Celebration Machine
Project Objective:
To construct a device with several different movements which ultimately expresses aspects of celebration and then to use the work to create a short film.

My project collaborator, Alex W. and I focused on using a flexible framework to convey the chaos and adaptability of a party. For instance, gear teeth can be swapped out to change the motion of the device without affecting the rest of the structure.
INITIAL SKETCHES
MECHANISM CONSTRUCTION
Above: demo of the mechanism in motion
Below: mechanism details
We wanted to comment on the fleeting nature of college gatherings, which often sprout up spontaneously only to be diverted to pause their intensity and move elsewhere. Here the parts create delicate movement, but clamorously joyous and ephemeral.
FINAL FILM
Film shot and edited by Alex and acting by me
